Conquer Cancer announces recipients of Pfizer Global Medical Grants for researchers seeking equitable care for patients with metastatic breast cancer
ALEXANDRIA, Virginia – Conquer Cancer®, the ASCO Foundation, in collaboration with Pfizer Global Medical Grants, today announced grants totaling $900,000 to support studies focused on identifying disparities in delivery of care and treatment outcomes for patients of color with metastatic breast cancer (mBC).
These grants are part of the Pfizer Global Medical Grants’ program “Equitable Care of Metastatic Breast Cancer (mBC) Patients: A Phased Approach to Understanding and Addressing Healthcare Disparities for People of Color”, which aims to promote and advance scientific knowledge concerning equitable care of patients with mBC by employing data-driven frameworks to define and address inequities in the delivery of patient care and outcomes.
Application review and evaluation was led by Conquer Cancer and grant funding will be provided by Pfizer Global Medical Grants.
“The challenges faced by metastatic breast cancer patients and their loved ones should not be further complicated by inadequate access to care and resources,” said Lynn McRoy, M.D., FACS, Global Medical Breast Cancer Lead, Pfizer Oncology. “We applaud these recipients and their dedication to helping those living with metastatic breast cancer as we work together as a community to address health equity and close the gaps in breast cancer care.”
