Conquer Cancer, the ASCO Foundation to Receive Proceeds from Book Sale

Kimberly Irvine Signing

Entrepreneur, brand ambassador, and two-time breast cancer survivor Kimberly Irvine announced today that Conquer Cancer®, the ASCO Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that raises funds to support research for all types of cancer, will receive the proceeds from her debut book, STRONG[ER+].

Irvine’s memoir chronicles the years she spent conquering cancer while raising young children, finding her place in the oncology field as a patient advocate, and searching for love after divorce. It is a candid peak at both the physical and emotional losses cancer inflicted upon Irvine and a declaration of optimistic self-preservation.

“We should all be advocates for ourselves, for patients with cancer, and for the doctors working to care for us all,” said Irvine. “Because giving back is incredibly important to me, I am partnering with Conquer Cancer, who funds the brightest scientists from around the world, to raise funds for breast cancer research.”

The funds raised from book purchases will support a Young Investigator Award (YIA) grant for an early-career researcher with a focus on breast cancer. The award will be given in memory of Irvine’s friend, Kara Kuhns, a wife and mother who passed away from metastatic breast cancer at the age of 39.

“We are grateful Kimberly chose Conquer Cancer to receive her book’s proceeds, and we commend her for sharing her story,” said Nancy R. Daly, MS, MPH, Conquer Cancer’s chief philanthropic officer.” A YIA is an important grant for early-career scientists and Conquer Cancer YIA recipients have a history of discovering important breakthroughs benefiting patients everywhere.”

STRONG[ER+] will be available for pre-sale April 12, 2019, and can be purchased here.
